Interested in starting a business in Conyers? An important first step is to obtain an Occupation Tax Registration, or business license, for your new business.

All businesses operating within the City limits must register for an Occupation Tax Registration from the Planning and Inspection Services Department. Call before you sign a lease agreement to make certain that your business is located in the correct zoning district.

To obtain an Occupation Tax Registration, follow these guidelines:

• The Occupation Tax Application packet can be downloaded above or obtained from the Planning and Inspection Services office.
• Submit the application packet back to Planning and Inspections Services office with the $50 non-refundable processing fee (payable by cash, check, credit/debit card with an additional 3% processing fee).
• Application review time for approval is 3-5 business days.
• After application approval, the next steps will be passing inspection from the Rockdale County Fire Department and City of Conyers Planning and Inspection Services Department.
• Pay the appropriate occupation tax.
