Annually, the city of Conyers recognizes one employee as the Employee of the Year, or recipient of the Dee Buggay Award of Excellence. Dee Buggay, retired human resources director, was the first recipient of the award and the award was named after her as she exemplified every trait and attribute one could aspire to as a public servant and city employee.

The 2023 recipient of the Dee Buggay Award of Excellence (Employee of the Year) is Sadina Jurgens, senior financial analyst in the Administration and Finance divisions. Sadina was recognized and honored at an employee breakfast held on February 22, 2024, at the Georgia International Horse Park Carriage Room.
