The city of Conyers operates under the direction of the mayor and city council. The Conyers Mayor and City Council consist of the following:

Mayor
Council Member, District 1
Council Member, District 2, Post 1
Council Member, District 2, Post 2
Council Member, District 3
Council Member, District 4

Terms and Qualifications

Council members are elected to four-year terms. The mayor is also elected to a four-year term, but elected at-large. To be eligible to run for a city council seat, a person must:

1. Be 18 years of age;
2. Have resided in the city and in the district the person seeks to represent for at least one year;
3. Be a qualified elector of the city;
4. Meet any other requirements as established by state law.

The mayor and council serve staggered terms. The following are the terms currently being served:

Mayor - January 1, 2022- December 31, 2025
Council Member, District 1 - January 1, 2022- December 31,2025
Council Member, District 2, Post 1 - January 1, 2022- December 31,2025
Council Member, District 2, Post 2 - January 1, 2020 - December 31, 2023
Council Member, District 3 - January 1, 2020 - December 31, 2023
Council Member, District 4 - January 1, 2020 - December 31, 2023

Election Process

The city contracts with the Rockdale County Board of Elections to conduct city elections.
