In late 2014, the Conyers Mayor and Council identified a need for a strategic plan and vision for the city. A strategic planning committee was formed and met with facilitators from the Carl Vinson Institute of Government at the University of Georgia. A number of local groups and individuals were identified by the committee and council for a series of focus groups and one-on-one interviews. Following the completion of the interviews, data was compiled and reviewed by the committee. Senior staff met with facilitators to extract goals, develop action items and steps to achieve those goals from the collected data. Mayor Mills and the City Council met again to review the goals and action items to insure they are in line with their vision for the further development and success of the city of Conyers.

The plan was completed in May 2016. City officials and staff hope the plan will serve as the means to accomplish and further the city's goals and vision to provide enhanced services and a superior quality of life for its citizenry.
