Along with the Georgia Chapter of the Vietnam Vets/Legacy Vets Motorcycle Club, the Walk of Heroes Veterans War Memorial will host the annual POW/MIA Recognition Day Program on Saturday, September 10 at 5:00 p.m. (Patriotic Concert starts at 4:30 pm) at the Stage Area of the Walk of Heroes Veterans War Memorial.
Ms. JoAnne Shirley of Dalton, Georgia, (sister of MIA AF Major Bobby Jones who was shot down 11/28/72), will be the guest speaker. She has served the Georgia Committee for POW/MIA and the National League of POW/MIA Families for 44+ years with more than 10 years as national chairwoman of the POW/MIA issue.
Former POWs from WW II, Korea, Vietnam and most recent wars are scheduled to be present along with MIA families. The event is free and open to the public.
