Keep Conyers-Rockdale Beautiful is sponsoring the E-Recycling and Paper Shredding Event from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. in the parking lot of the Rockdale County Government Complex at 1400 Parker Road on Saturday, May 20. The free, half-day event will provide the public a place to safely discard and recycle old documents and electronics, regardless of working condition. There is a maximum of four banker boxes per vehicle allowed for paper shredding and participants must provide photo ID as proof of an address in Rockdale County for both shredding and recycling. Cash fees will apply to certain items for electronics recycling, including $20 each for TVs and $10 each for CRT monitors. All other acceptable electronics are free to recycle. The following is a list of items accepted:

Electronics: desktop computers, laptop computers, servers, mainframes, network hubs, network switches, cell phones, desktop phones and systems, CD-ROMS, floppy drives, circuit boards, power supplies, hard drives, UPS and UPS batteries, Ni-MH/Ni-CAD batteries, lithium batteries, printers, fax machines, copiers, scanners, typewriters, modems, stereos, VCRs, keyboards/mice, check processing, gaming consoles and controllers, LCD monitors, Blu-Ray players, cable/wire, toner/inkjet cartridges, radios, DVD players, CD players, docking stations
Not Accepted Items:
Paper containing foreign objects such as spring loader/binder clips or glue/adhesives, photographs, handing metal file folders, three-ring binders
Electronics: project/console TVs, washers/dryers, vacuum cleaners, speakers (wooden), gas grill tanks, battery-powered tools, liquid-containing devices, alkaline batteries, coffee makers, car batteries, toaster ovens, humidifiers/de-humidifiers, gas-powered tools, household trash, microwave ovens, radioactive material, irons, tires, refrigerators/freezers, blenders, mixers, ovens, hair dryers, ceiling fans.
