Fans of vampires, zombies and witches, among other supernatural beings, can now more fully appreciate and experience popular shows like “The Originals,” primarily filmed in Conyers, “The Vampire Diaries” and “The Walking Dead” by traveling the newly launched Georgia’s Undead Trail.

The Conyers Mayor, City Council, and invited guests gathered on the evening of Thursday, August 4 for the dedication of an Olympic marker at the Georgia International Horse Park signifying the 20th anniversary since the Olympic equestrian events took place in Conyers and Rockdale County during the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games.

One of the more popular pieces of art in Conyers turns 15 years old this April. “Adventure Mountain,” located in the Travis Street roundabout in Olde Town Conyers behind the Nancy Guinn Memorial Library, was dedicated on April 26, 2001 in the midst of the Olde Town revitalization project.

According to figures recently released by the Travel Association of America (TAA) who conducted an annual study for the Georgia Department of Economic Development, the city of Conyers and Rockdale County ranked 29 out of Georgia’s 159 counties in the state in the level of expenditures among tourists in 2014. Expenditures among tourists in the county were up eight percent over 2013 figures.
