Big Haynes Creek Wildlife Festival

Get outside and go WILD at the Second Annual Big Haynes Creek Wildlife Festival held on the Grand Prix Plaza at the Georgia International Horse Park!  The festival is scheduled for August 23-24, 2008 and will be open to the public from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. each day.

The admission fee is $5.00 per person (children ages 4 and under are free) and tickets can be purchased at the gate.  A $2.00 off admission coupon is available!  Parking is free.  No pets, please.

The Wildlife Festival promotes understanding and enjoyment of the outdoors while featuring animal exhibits, guest speakers, hands-on demonstrations, children's activities, stage performances, arts and crafts.

Everyone can find a way to get WILD with lots of fun activities for the entire family. Highlights of the Wildlife Festival include:

  • NEW!  See Steve Scruggs, the Snake Master, with poisonous snakes on the main stage.  Steve Scruggs was Field and Stream Magazine's April 2008 "Hero of Conservation"             

Steve Scruggs, dubbed the "SnakeMaster," will have his collection of snakes--both venemous and nonvenemous--on display.  Steve will present an exciting seminar on saneks of Georgia and north America.  Steve Scruggs has studied snakes extensively since his childhood and has traveled around the world twice studying snakes of all species.  Steve will educate you, entertain you, thrill you, but never scare you.  You're going to love this program.  Bring the kids!

  • NEW!  Get up close with many different animals during the Wildlife Wonders Stage Show and Zoo Display - as seen on the Discovery Channel
  • NEW!  Listen to Native American stories told by Carol Brown in the Living HIstory Section
  • NEW!  See native wildlife at the A.W.A.R.E. exhibit from Panola Mountain State Park
  • Watch a demonstration or performance on stage such as the Reptile Show--back by popular demand--hosted by Southeast Reptile Rescue
  • Learn the basics of fly-\fishing and archery at one of the hands-on activities
  • Learn about large, native birds at the Birds of Prey exhibit
  • See how Creek and Cherokee Indians lived off the land and how the influence of early settlers changed their lives in the Living History Section
  • Shop among arts and crafts in the artist market
  • Play on rides or eat a snack at one of the tantalizing food booths
  • And discover many other ways to get outside and go WILD!

Directions to the Georgia International Horse Park and Big Haynes Creek Wildlife Festival:

Take Exit 82 off Interstate 20 in Conyers. Travel North approximately 4 miles. Turn right onto Centennial Olympic Parkway. The main entrance to the Park is 2 miles ahead on the right.

An alternative route to the Park is via Salem Road (Exit 84) off Interstate 20.  Take Exit 84 and travel North approximately 1 mile.  At Gees Mill Road, turn right and the Georgia International Horse Park Gate A is 2.5 miles on the right.  To continue to the main gate (Gate C), continue past Gate A and turn right at the stop sign onto Centennial Olympic Parkway.  The main entrance will be on your right.
